Is it possible to get press passes as oppositelock authors? Anyone have any tips for getting press passes for events? It would not necessarily be for car events, but I'm assuming it would be easier to get pictures at events if I/my wife had one (she is the one with the camera).

I had a play down this route a couple of weeks ago. Alas the place i was trying to get a pass from wanted evidence of work, and where its been used, how many readers and that sort of stuff, so that sort of put a pin in that plan.

sure you would, but its worth Email Oppo Mods to ask if they are ok with it though too (using their name that is)

I might be TOTALLY wrong here, but I think I remember seeing somewhere that someone said they were a Jalopnik writer so they could get a press car, and then Jalopnik got word of that and shit hit the fan. As for someone trying that and saying they were from Oppo, I have no idea.

Ya, if you are not on Jalopnik's Payroll DONT F#$%ING SAY YOU WRITE FOR JALOPNIK!! That being said, I dont see what would be so terrible about getting a press pass for Oppo

Yeah, there's a fine line between what's honest and dishonest in regards to media/press passes as far as online bloggers and such. Do we write about cars here? Absolutely. But we're not doing it as a job, so we don't really need those credentials, because we're just writing things and showing up to events for fun and because we enjoy it. I wouldn't take advantage of being an Oppo author just to get behind a couple velvet ropes, because if something were to happen, if it was a big enough deal, it could jeopardize this place. I'd hate for someone to accidentally trip and fall onto a million dollar car, mess it up, and then the owner saying "WHY ARE YOU HERE, WHATS YOUR PUBLICATION?!?" And then causing a shit storm that ends in Oppositelock being shut down.

I submitted articles I wrote on Oppo as Oppo and got a Frankfurt press pass. I didn't claim to be Jalopnik whatsoever.

Press passes from Oppo would only get you access behind the ropes to the "wide-sized Port-Johns" and maybe Danica Patrick's garage area at the Dover race tomorrow.
